My dad was guard on the Harvard football team (class of ‘41) and backed up consensus 1st team All-American Chubb Peabody. He was particularly proud of the fact that they beat Yale senior year. I was more impressed that they played the powerful Michigan team with Heisman winning halfback Tommy Harmon. I loved the article. People don’t realize the role that true scholar/athletes played in the early years of collegiate football.
